Xiaomi teased the launch of its Redmi Note 12 Pro series last week. It debuted in China around the end of October, and it will premiere in India on January 5. In a new teaser, the brand has confirmed some key specifications of the Indian variant of the Redmi 12 Pro.
In the teaser, it is revealed that the Note 12 Pro has a 50MP primary camera. There is optical image stabilization (OIS) on this camera.
In addition, the teaser confirms that the smartphone’s AMOLED display will feature a 120Hz refresh rate, which can be reduced to 30Hz. This panel is capable of producing 1 billion colors and supports Dolby ATMOS and Dolby Vision.
It also confirms that the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, which is the same SoC used by competitors such as the Realme 10 Pro series. Last but not least, the battery will take 15 minutes to charge for a full day. The specs indicate that the device coming to India is the same as the Chinese model.

Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is expected to launch in India with three storage options. This device comes with 6GB/8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage as its base variant. Paras Guglani, a tipster, predicts that the device will launch for Rs 24,999, inclusive of bank offers.
It is expected that the 8GB + 256GB variant of the Note 12 Pro+ 5G will launch for Rs 26,999, while the 12GB RAM variant is expected to cost Rs 28,999.
According to Guglani, the phone could go on sale in India as early as January 11. No details have been confirmed by Xiaomi.
Redmi Note 12 Pro series:
The new Redmi Note 12 Pro, Note 12 Pro+, and Note 12 Explorer Edition will sport 6.67 inches FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will have a peak brightness of 900 nits and supports 10-bit colors, Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HDR10+.
All three devices are powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC coupled with 6GB/8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage space. Here comes the change where the three devices get different pairs of cameras.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro will feature a 50MP main Sony IMX766 sensor (f/1.88) with OIS support. Whereas the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ & Redmi Note 12 Pro Explorer Edition gets a new 200MP Samsung HPX sensor (f/1.65) with OIS support. The remaining two sensors are the same on all three models with 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro sensors. All three devices will ship with a 16MP selfie shooter. It also features an in-display fingerprint scanner with IR Blaster support.
The connectivity options include dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, a USB-C port, a linear motor, dual stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Redmi Note 12 Pro & Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus packs 5000 mAh battery with 67W and 120W fast charge support respectively. Lastly, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Explorer will pack a 4300 mAh battery and whopping 210W fast charge support.
All three devices still run on Android 12 OS with MIUI 13 on top.
