Last year, Xiaomi updated the Mi 11 Lite 5G with the 11 Lite 5G NE, a nearly identical phone with a different chipset. There will also be an NE model for the Lite series in 2022, but it will be more different.

An IMEI database revealed the existence and model number of the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE, which is 2210129SG, according to a Chinese source. There is a “G” at the end, which indicates this is a device for the global market, not the Chinese market.

As rumor has it, it will be rebranded Civi 2 and that makes perfect sense. In view of the fact that the rebranded model is already available in China, it would make sense that it would only be available in other countries.

A different chipset was used for the Xiaomi Civi 2 compared to the 12 Lite – the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, which should perform better than the Snapdragon 778G. Besides the 50 MP main camera, there’s a 20 MP ultrawide sensor instead of an 8 MP sensor on the existing Lite. In addition to a dual-LED flash and an ultrawide sensor, the Civi 2’s selfie cam has an additional ultrawide sensor. Additionally, the battery is slightly larger at 4,500mAh vs 4,300mAh, while all the other specs are almost identical.

FCC certification for the 2210129SG was issued in September, so its launch may be closer than you think. It appears that the 12 Lite 5G NE will have three storage configurations: 6GB of RAM and 128GB, 8/128GB and 8/256GB.
