Despite Apple’s announcement of the 10th generation iPad, it isn’t a very faithful follow-up to last year’s entry-level model. The new iPad is thinner, with flat sides, and has a larger 10.9-inch 2360x1640px IPS LCD with 500 nits. As a result, it will have the same design as the iPad Air (2022) but without the M1 processor.
The 10th generation iPad has a 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU, and 16-core neural engine powered by the A14 Bionic chip.
There are four colors to choose from: Silver, Blue, Pink, and Yellow, as well as 64GB and 256GB and Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + 5G models. It’s the faster Wi-Fi 6.
The iPad 10th generation supports the Apple Pencil and USB-C. If you read the fine print, however, you’ll see that the Pencil uses Lightning, so you’ll need the USB-C to Lightning adapter. For $9, you can purchase the adapter alone.
iPad 10th gen features a landscape-oriented 12MP f/2.4 122-degree ultrawide front camera. There will be more people in the frame and it supports Smart HDR 3, 1080p video up to 60fps, and extended dynamic range up to 30fps. There is a 12MP f/1.8 AF main camera with 4K video at the opposite end.
The Magic Keyboard Folio for the new iPad is compatible with the Smart Connector and attaches magnetically. Trackpads and kickstands are included. The keyboard will cost $249/€299/INR 24,900 and enhance the iPad’s capabilities.
The Apple iPad 10th generation is now available for pre-order and will be available on October 26 – in 1 to 2 weeks.
The 64GB Wi-Fi-only model starts at $449/€579/INR 44,900. Although that’s a significant price hike over last year’s entry-level model, Apple is keeping it available at $329/€429/INR 33,900.
