Since the launch of the Ultra member, Samsung’s Galaxy S mainstream flagship series has had a two-way split in design. A growing pile of leaks indicates that this will change next year. According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra will have the water droplet camera setups introduced with the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Three cameras will be arranged vertically on Samsung Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ (wrongly called Pro), with the LED flash next to the top shooter. Once again, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has five circles – four cameras plus PDAF and laser AF. The Ultra series also has sharper corners as it has the Note lineup’s footprint, along with the S Pen.
Manufacturers often provide case makers with dimensions of upcoming phones before they are publicly released, so if we see something similar here, we are looking at the real thing.
Even though Samsung is yet to announce the Galaxy S23 smartphones, rumors already paint a picture of an increasingly clear evolutionary upgrade.

Geekbench has discovered the first Samsung Galaxy S23 result – a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 result as well. The SM-S911U should be the US version of the S23, and the code name “Kalama” is very likely to refer to Qualcomm’s next flagship chip.
There is one prime core at 3.36GHz, four mid cores at 2.80GHz, and three small cores at 2.02GHz on the CPU. Ice Universe reported that the CPU will have a configuration of 1+2+2+3.
It consists of one Makalu-Elp prime core, two Makalu and two Matterhorn mid cores, and three Klein-R1. According to some information, Makalu is the improved Cortex-A715 while Matterhorn is the original Cortex-A710 (the A715 is 20% more efficient and 5% faster than the A711). Klein is an A510-based core, and Makalu-Elp is almost certainly based on the Cortex-X3 (25% faster than the X2 in ARM’s tests).
Samsung’s Galaxy S23 is 3-4 months away, so we shouldn’t read too much into the benchmark results. On single/multi-core tests, the 8 Gen 1 inside the Galaxy S22 scores around 1,200/3,200, while the 8+ Gen 1 usually scores 1,300/4,200.
In addition, the Galaxy S23 will come with 8GB of RAM, just like its predecessors. It will also run Android 13, which isn’t a surprise. The GPU is listed as Adreno 740 (Gen 1 chips used Adreno 730).
