The Samsung Developer Conference revealed the latest details about One UI 5, Samsung’s own take on Android 13, which will be available on Samsung phones in the coming weeks. One UI 5 will be available as a stable build to users in the coming weeks for Galaxy flagships such as the Galaxy S22 series, Z Flip 4, and Z Fold 4.
You can now customize your wallpaper, clock face, and color palette on the redesigned lock screen. You can also set a short video as your lock screen background via the video wallpaper option.
Furthermore, Samsung offers smart suggestions for widgets and apps based on your usage patterns. A new option in One UI 5’s Routines helps automate tasks based on recognition. With Modes, you can schedule customized settings and features for different parts of your day, such as going to sleep or exercising.
You can take calls via text message with Bixby Text Call, Samsung’s answer to Google Screen Call.
By answering a call with Bixby Text Call, you can type what you want Bixby to say while simultaneously transcribing what the other person is saying in real time. In South Korea, Bixby Text Call is already available, and an English version will be released in early 2023.
Now you can extract text from your photos using Samsung Gallery.
A new menu called Connected devices has been added, as well as a privacy hub with security and privacy dashboards. There is also a new notification in Samsung’s Share Panel that warns you if you share a photo with sensitive information like your passport or credit card number.
