The Apple iPhone 14 series was launched recently, but rumors and leaks about the next-generation iPhone 15 lineup have already been surfacing, and a new report suggests the next generation will have a different naming convention.
Apparently, Apple has begun working on a new Apple iPhone 15 Ultra model that will replace the Max model, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
In addition, the iPhone 15 series will see the biggest design change since the iPhone 12 launched in 2020. iPhones may start offering USB-C ports among some major changes. There are also reports that all models in the iPhone 15 series will have Dynamic Island.
Pro Max has been renamed Ultra, which makes sense given that Apple Watch Ultra is now available. For years, the company has experimented with iPhone models. Having launched the Mini model two years ago, the company ditched it for the Plus model with the new iPhone 14 Plus.
Since the Mini model wasn’t selling well, the company switched to the Plus model, assuming customers aren’t interested in compacts. However, reports indicate that sales of the new iPhone 14 Plus are also not good, and the company has cut production of the iPhone 14 to boost production of the Pro.
