The Xiaomi 12S series smartphones were recently launched in China by Xiaomi. China’s Digital Chat Station reports that Xiaomi’s upcoming 13 series could have a ceramic body. It is believed to be manufactured by BYDAs the tipster points out, this is only a prototype, so whether a ceramic back panel will actually appear in the final product remains to be seen. Xiaomi dropped the ceramic body from its 12S Ultra.
The MIX 4 and MIX Fold both feature ceramic back panels. Ceramic offers a lightweight form factor. We’ll be fascinated to see what Xiaomi 13 series will look like if it has a ceramic body.
Xiaomi’s 13 series is expected to launch in November. The device is reportedly powered by an SM8550 processor, which may be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. In addition to the standard model, there will be a Pro model codenamed Fuxi and a standard model codenamed Nuwa. 2211133C is the model number of the former.
There are still a few months until the Xiaomi 13 series launches, so we recommend taking this news with a grain of salt. In the coming months, we should hear more about smartphones.
