In the past week, Samsung announced that the Galaxy S23 would come with a new front-facing camera. We discover today that the telephoto camera is taking a step back. Some early information is coming in slowly about the cameras Samsung is considering including in the Galaxy S23 series. A few details about the Galaxy S23+ have been revealed recently. According to recent reports, Samsung does not want to improve the Galaxy S22 camera.

Next year, the Galaxy S23 and S23+ will also have a telephoto camera with a 10MP sensor. In that case, the current S22 and S22+ have a 10MP telephoto camera as well. Early reports indicate that Samsung may add a 12 MP front camera to the Galaxy S23 and S23+.
It is not strange at all. The Galaxy S22 is the first Samsung smartphone to come with a 10MP optical zoom camera, whereas the front camera has been the same for years. Prior to the S20 and S21, telephoto cameras made a significant contribution to these models, as did a hybrid – that is, largely digital – zoom.
While we believe the Galaxy S23 and S23+ will once again feature a 3x optical zoom lens, we are unable to confirm this at this time. At the moment, we can’t share information relevant to the (telephoto) cameras of the Galaxy S23 Ultra. As such, for the time being, details are scarce. That’s not unusual. There are still seven months before the Galaxy S23 is released, after all.
