Qualcomm launched the first flagship chip with SD 8 Gen 1 earlier this year. We saw various devices were had heating issues along with weak battery life. Now Qualcomm might have overcome the above two factors & launched a much more powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1:

The new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will bring almost  10% higher CPU performance and a 30% improvement in power-efficient CPU. The powerful Cortex X2 core is now clocked at 3.2 GHz which is somewhat similar to SD870 SoC. Further, we also got an improved Prime core at 3.2 GHz, Gold cores at 2.75Ghz, & Silver cores at 2.0GHz.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 also comes with a GPU having a 10% higher frequency which also reduces the power by 30%. The AI Engine also boosted to 20%  better performance per Watt ratio. When compared with its predecessor the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC has got 15% more overall power efficiency.

The new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC is now built on a 4nm TSMC process instead of Samsung. Apart from this, all other specs remain the same as SD 8 Gen 1 SoC.

The new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC-powered smartphones will be rolling out from Q3 of 2022. Some of the brands include Asus ROG, Black Shark, HONOR, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, OSOM, realme, Red Magic, Redmi, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC:

Qualcomm has also launched another much-needed mid-range chipset with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC. After the success of SD778G & SD778G+ SoC we now finally got the much more powerful mid-ranger with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.

The new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC is now built on a 4nm process which is the first on SD 7 series chipset. Further, the chipset will also get some premium features like Qualcomm’s dedicated AI Engine, up to 200MP image capture, and Android Ready SE for e-money solutions.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC comes with 2.4GHz clocked Kyro cores & features Adreno 662 GPU the one found on SD888 SoC. The new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC comes with a 20% faster GPU & almost 30% better performance on AI tasks when compared with SD778G.

Further, the chipset also got Adreno Frame Motion Engine which has almost doubled framerates in games while maintaining the same power consumption as SD778G. Now the SD 7 Gen 1 SoC can handle up to 16GB LP-DDR5 RAM. It also gets a Snapdragon X65 5G modem that comes with 4.4 Gbps to download speeds with dual standby 5G connectivity on both (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes.

The chipset also comes with Wifi-6E & Bluetooth 5.3 support. The new Qualcomm Spectra triple ISP brings up to 200MP camera support with 4K HDR recording. The chipset also gets its first Android SE and Trusted Management Engine to keep your digital keys and wallets secure.

Oppo Reno8 Series will be the first smartphone to ship with the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC later next week.
