As it does every year, Google has released its annual “Year in Search 2021” list. This list contains the most popular searches in India and around the world. Google searches range from ‘Indian Premier League’, ‘CoWIN’, ‘ICC T20 World Cup’, to ‘Neeraj Chopra’.
Google reports that the Indian Premier League and the ICC T20 World Cup were two of the most searched for topics in India. Sporting events like the Euro Cup, Copa América, and athletes’ performances at the Tokyo Olympics were popular.
People were seeking information on vaccinations options and availability through CoWIN and Covid Vaccine. Also on top was Free Fire code redemption, a battle royale game.
As people battled the pandemic over the year, ‘near me’ searches included Covid Vaccine, Covid tests, and Covid hospital as well as oxygen cylinders and CT scans.
