The ability to move your WhatsApp history across iPhone and Samsung devices has been available for a short time now, and it’s being extended to all Google Pixel devices as well.

But it doesn’t stop there: Google says that every Android 12 device will be able to do the same. Consequently, Samsung and Google devices will no longer be the only ones supported in a few months.

The transfer process is really straightforward. Opt for the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro as your smartphone of choice. A Lightning to USB-C cable is all you’ll need. To move your conversations, media, and more to your Pixel, you first connect your Pixel to your iPhone and then scan a QR code on your iPhone when requested during the initial setup of your Pixel.

The information is safely transferred between the mobile devices. Google claims to have worked closely with WhatsApp to keep your data and files safe from unauthorized access. It will be as simple as copying over the conversation history from the iPhone to the Pixel, and the iPhone will be unable to accept new messages while the transfer is taking place.
