Amazon has announced a price increase for its Prime membership. The new Amazon Prime membership price in India is Rs 1,499. The price rise will be implemented very soon, but the specific date is uncertain. Users can keep their Prime subscriptions for Rs 999 until the price changes. An Amazon spokesperson said the price increase is due to the Great Indian Festival Sale.

Amazon Prime renewal charges increased:

A year of Amazon Prime will now cost Rs 1,499 instead of Rs 999. After nearly five years, the service gets a substantial upgrade. Amazon Prime was launched in India in July 2016. Users could sign up for a free 60-day trial, after which they had to pay Rs 499 for a year’s subscription. After the initial promotion, the price in India was set to Rs 999.

Amazon hasn’t changed the price of Prime membership in India since. While the competitors kept raising pricing, Amazon Prime in India remained at Rs 999. In fact, the corporation added new services like Prime Music for free.

Prime members have first access to Amazon’s deals and offers. They also have their orders delivered in a day or two. Prime Video and Prime Music are also included. The ICICI Amazon Pay credit card also offers up to 5% cashback on all purchases.

While the annual subscription fee is likely to increase, it still includes a wide range of services, from same-day delivery to audio and video streaming.
