The Reno7 Pro variant (PFDM00) would utilise a Sony IMX766 sensor, according to the latest information from Leakster Digital Chat Station on Oppo’s future flagship smartphones. It’s possible that this is the same phone that Kodak is working on with the usage of two such sensors. However, it’s possible that’s a brand-new Find.
Oppo HQ loves the IMX766 for one reason or another. The Reno6 Pro+, the Reno6 Pro with Snapdragon, and the Find X3 Pro flagship all utilise it. OnePlus, Realme, Vivo, and others utilise this sensor (or customised versions of it).
It has a 50 MP sensor and 1.0 m native pixels (which increase to 2.0 m with 4-in-1 binning). The sensor is 1/1.56″ in size. DOL-HDR and All-Pixel autofocus are also supported.
Compared to the Reno6 Pro, the Reno7 sensor, according to DCS, will provide noticeably improved picture quality. However, keep in mind that this is referring to the 6 Pro Dimensity 1200 version marketed in China, which has a 64 MP OmniVision OV64B, a 1/2.0″ sensor with 0.7 m pixels, and is thus different from the other versions.
A similar camera chip, the OV64B, is utilised in the vanilla Reno6, so expect an update for the new vanilla model as well.
