According to MoneyControl, the satellite firm wants to conduct virtual meetings with MPs, ministers, and other government officials to discuss how the broadband connection might improve rural life. Moreover, SpaceX’s satellite broadband business plans to launch in India in December 2022, with approximately 200,000 operational terminals, pending local government approval.

GOI (Government of India) secretaries or senior secretaries of states are also interested in 30-minute virtual chats to determine whether 100% broadband will assist improve lives, according to Starlink Country Director for India Sanjay Bhargava. To get 80 percent of the Starlink terminals into India, we would likely target 10 rural Lok Sabha seats. Previously, Bhargava said that the firm was eager to operate in rural regions to provide broadband services.

In India, Starlink will compete in broadband alongside Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea. For the hard-to-reach regions, Satcom companies like Starlink would handle it, Bhargava said. We look forward to the day when an Indian rural constituency may claim 100% broadband.”
