The Buds Z2 earbuds from OnePlus, the company’s next cheap TWS earbuds, have already been leaked twice, and now we have a third. There’s nothing new here, but it does serve as a validation that the prior two films were on the correct road, which is a nice touch.
The three microphones that will be utilized for active noise reduction, as well as a redesigned design that will better manage wind, will be the most noticeable improvements in the Buds Z2. The headphones have received IP55 certification, which means they are water and dust resistant, while the charging box has received IPX4 certification.
The buds will support Bluetooth 5.2, but they will not support any sophisticated audio streaming codecs, thus they will depend on the more basic AAC and SBC codecs instead. A total of 11mm drivers are used to create the sound.
Each bud is equipped with a 40mAh battery, with an additional 520mAh battery housed in the casing. The charging period for the box is 90 minutes from 0 to 100 percent, and the total play duration is up to 27 hours with the noise-canceling feature switched on and 38 hours without it being turned on. Without the case, the buds have a reasonable 5 hours of playtime with ANC turned on and 7 hours of playtime with ANC turned off. That’s a considerable increase over last year’s Buds Z, which had a time limit of 5 hours.
It goes without saying that the case itself charges through USB-C, however it does not allow wireless charging. In comparison, each bud weighs just 4.6g, but the box may weigh up to 42g, depending on the color, which is either Night Black or Day White.
