Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro

A TENAA filing suggests Xiaomi is working on a phone with a curved 4K OLED display, similar to the recently launched Xiaomi Civi. Thanks to TENAA, we now have potential pictures of the phone.

4K phones, first launched by Sony with its Z5 Premium smartphone, have been around for a while. But they were mostly unique to Sony. The low adoption rate is explained by the fact that the 4K pixel density is hardly visible above the more common QHD resolution. 4K screens are also known to be power hogs. With a 120Hz refresh rate, a 4K screen in 2021 will be more battery-intensive than ever.

Anyway, the rumored Xiaomi gadget will have a 6.55-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) OLED display. The picture above shows its modest curve. There is no evidence of a punch-hole or notch on the front, although the front is dimly illuminated in the picture.

Many call it the Xiaomi CC11 Pro. TENAA also lists “iris recognition”, a function debuted with the Samsung Galaxy S8 but never widely used.

The gadget has a 4,500mAh battery and supports up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The listing doesn’t mention the CPU, but it will be 2.4GHz. The phone’s dimensions are 6.98 mm thick, nearly similar to the Xiaomi Civi’s. In spite of its size, it weighs 166 grams.

However, although TENAA is highly trustworthy, some of the specifications listed for the purported CC11 Pro may be erroneous. There’s also no word about a pro/plus Civi. So, take it all with a grain of salt.

A little far-fetched, to be honest. But if Xiaomi can do this at a reasonable price, it will have little competition.
