Today, Realme held a launch event in China where it unveiled its latest smartphone, the Realme GT Neo2. A new version of realme’s UI, realme UI, is also on the horizon.
In 2019, Realme announced its custom UI, replacing OPPO’s ColorOS with its own. Following that up, the company released realme UI 2.0 in September 2020, which is based on Android 11. Realme is preparing to reveal a new design based on Android 12 as it gets closer to launch.
During today’s event, realme UI 3.0 was announced, and it will feature several new features. There is no official date for the new UI to debut on new smartphones, but we could see it on a new model in the near future. As well as letting us know which devices will receive the new UI, Realme should also let us know when the update will be available.
Since some Realme phones have just received the realme UI 2.0 update, it is reasonable to assume the rollout of realme UI 3.0 will continue until the second half of 2022.
Unconfirmed reports suggest realme UI 3.0 will be similar to OPPO’s ColorOS 12, announced last week. We will have to wait and see if that happens.
Rumors say the manufacturer may return to ColorOS and ditch realme UI in the future. As OPPO and OnePlus will be dropping their respective custom user interfaces next year in favor of a unified one, these rumors seem false.
