Having launched first the Galaxy Z Fold3 and then the Galaxy Z Flip3, next year’s major Galaxy Unpacked event will feature the Galaxy S22 series. Since mid-August, several details regarding the new S-series flagships have been flying about, and it is expected that they will continue to do so up until the day of their announcement. A new set of details has surfaced today, mainly concerning the displays.
Specs:
Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold3, the Galaxy S22 series will not have an under-display camera, according to Korean blog Naver. One of the users known for Samsung-related leaks, Tron (@FrontTron), posted that the technology has not yet advanced to the point where mass production is feasible. Samsung pulled back on UDC because more people will be buying the S-series, so it doesn’t want to hurt sales by introducing a selfie camera that isn’t as good as the standard built-in one.
Samsung continues to use punch-holes for its front-facing cameras, but makes a significant change regarding the size of the displays. Galaxy S22 has a display size of 6.06 inches, while Galaxy S22 Plus has a screen size of 6.55 inches. These are smaller than the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus, which have 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively.
In many ways, the screen of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is similar to that of the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Samsung is trying to differentiate its Plus and Ultra models with this significant difference in screen size, the source says.
Reports indicate that Samsung could ship the phone with Snapdragon 895 processors in its home country of Korea. The Exynos 2200 chipset may, however, only be available for the S22 Ultra due to its low yield.
The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus will also feature a 50MP sensor and two 12MP sensors on the rear. On the back of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, there will be four cameras – a 108MP main camera, three 12MP cameras, and a laser autofocus module.
This concludes our new information about the upcoming Galaxy S22 series. There should be more information coming out soon.
