This year, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop 4 during its April 14 launch. Another major launch is scheduled for September 22, including the release of Surface Duo 2. Invites for the event have begun to go out, which should include new hardware.
There’s a teaser image for the event on Microsoft’s website that shows a computer that looks like the Surface 7. An apparent detachable keyboard and kickstand accompany the device. Surface Pro 7 Plus has been specially designed for schools and businesses since Microsoft released it’s Surface Pro 7 earlier this year. The Surface Pro 8 could be the true successor to the Surface Pro 7, which will launch as the Surface Pro 8.
According to Windows Central, Microsoft might also announce a high-end laptop such as the Surface Book 4 or Surface Laptop Pro, or even the Surface Laptop Studio. It is unclear whether this new Surface Book can be used as a tablet or has a detachable display. Windows 11 should come pre-installed on all new computers.
The Surface Duo 2, Microsoft’s second-generation dual-display device, is a major announcement. The Geekbench listing revealed SD888 SoC being powered on the device. Comparing it to the first-generation model’s Snapdragon 855 chip, the new chip should bring significant improvements in performance. The Surface Duo 2 might also get a new launcher this year.
According to the benchmark site, the RAM and operating system details are also available. In addition to Android 11, it will come with 8GB of RAM from Microsoft. While we do not know if other configurations will be available, it is great to know that there is more RAM available.
Approximately 11 AM ET is the scheduled time for Surface’s launch.
