.RedmiBook 15 series laptops were announced earlier this month by Xiaomi, and today the company announced the premium Mi Notebook Pro and Mi Notebook Ultra. Both have very similar bodies, but the latter is more expensive and has more powerful internals.
Xiaomi Mi Notebook Ultra:
We’ll start with the Mi Notebook Ultra. The laptop runs on Intel’s 11th Gen Core i7-11370H processor at 4.8GHz, but you can select one that runs on Intel’s 11th Gen i5-11300H processor, which goes up to 4.4GHz.
In both models, Intel’s Iris Xe graphics are available for handling graphically intensive tasks. On the other hand, the i7 variant only comes with a 16GB RAM option, whereas the i5 version can be had with 8GB RAM as well. Memory amounts differ across units, but storage is the same – 512GB NVMe SSD.
With a thickness of 17.9mm, a weight of 1.7 kg, and a 6-series aerospace-grade aluminium body, the Mi Notebook Ultra is slim and light. Featuring a 15.6-inch, 3,200 x 2000-pixel Mi TrueLife+ Display with a 16:10 display aspect ratio and 90Hz screen refresh rate. As well, it uses DC Dimming to reduce eye fatigue, and Xiaomi says its TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light Protection filter blocks out blue light without changing the accuracy of the colours.
There’s a full-size keyboard with a three-level backlight for Mi Notebook Ultra, and it comes with a 70Whr battery that, according to Xiaomi, can last for over 12 hours. The 65W charger included in the bundle will charge the cell up to 50% within 45 minutes.
The Mi Notebook Ultra has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and a total of five ports – 1x Type-C, 1x Thunderbolt 4, 1x Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1x Type-A USB 2.0, and 1x HDMI.
Other features of the Mi Notebook Ultra include a fingerprint reader integrated in the power button, HD webcam, 3.5mm combo jack, in-built microphone, and two 2W stereo speakers with DTS Audio.
MS Office Home and Student Edition 2019 comes pre-installed on the Mi Notebook Ultra, along with Windows 10 Home. It will get a free upgrade to Windows 11 when it is released.
Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro:
In addition to the same materials as the Mi Notebook Ultra, the Mi Notebook Pro is thinner (17.3mm) and lighter (1.46kg) than the Ultra version. Because the Pro is made of a smaller 14″ TrueLife Display with 2,560 x 1,600-pixel resolution. It also has a 16:10 aspect ratio, but the refresh rate tops out at 60Hz. It has got pixel density drops to 215 PPI.
As for its battery, the Mi Notebook Pro comes with a less powerful one (56Whr). The device rated to last one hour less than the Ultra’s and proceeds from flat to 50% in 34 minutes.
The keyboards on these two laptops are also different. Mi Notebook Ultra’s keyboard has key travel of 1.5mm, while Mi Notebook Pro has a 1.3mm key travel.
The rest of Mi Notebook Pro’s features are the same as those on Mi Notebook Ultra.
Pricing and availability
Starting August 31, the Mi Notebook Ultra and Mi Notebook Pro will be available in a single Lustrous Gray colour. It will go on sale through Mi.com, Amazon.in, and Mi Home Stores across the country. The new Mi Notebook Ultra pricing starts at Rs.59,999/- and goes up to Rs.76,999/- for the top-end model. The Mi Notebook Pro starts at Rs.56,999/- for the base variant and goes up to Rs.72,999/- in India.
