realme, a globally emerging company in consumer technology, today announced the achievement of 100 million smartphones sold across the globe. Strategy Analytics, a market research company, claimed that realme is the first global smartphone brand ever to reach this milestone because of its performance during the COVID-19 economic challenges in 2020 and 2021.

The research company International Data Corporation (IDC) has revealed that realme was the fastest-growing major smartphone brand during Q2 2021, with a growth rate of 149% year over year.

Realme Success Factor:

According to Counterpoint, realme is also quite determined in its 5G efforts and led the market in 5G smartphone sales, capturing over 22% of the market during the quarter ending in 2021 India. This feat was not just impressive but also witnessed a 140% increase in Y-o-Y during Q2 2021, and it was able to climb to the fourth position in the Indian smartphone market.

This achievement has further validated realme’s sales and business strategies across the globe. Established in 2018, realme is currently the 7th largest smartphone manufacturer with a presence in 61 markets worldwide and ranks at top five manufacturers of smartphones in 13 countries and has the first position in the Philippines and Bangladesh, fourth in India and Russia, and fifth in the Europe region in the 2nd quarter of 2021. The 100 million milestones are the latest in line with the phenomenal growth of realme’s global reach that has seen the company add another “first” name.

In the past, realme was one of the first companies to launch the UltraDart charging technology of 125W and the first company to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. Its phones had 64-megapixel cameras, making them among the most innovative in the world. Additionally, realme was also the first company to launch 5G phones under $200.

Sky Li, realme’s CEO, a global marketer, said that targeting young people and youth has allowed realme to surpass many established brands. The group was over-hyped and not adequately served. “Young people as consumers, as well as our employees, have inspired us to step into the future and set the pace, giving us the courage to disrupt an established market.”

“The past three years were all about entrepreneurship and untamed growth for the realm” Li. Li. We’ve been able to meet our goal of selling 100 million smartphones due to the enthusiasm of our young users. This has allowed us to get a foothold in the market for smartphones. We will continue to provide quality products at affordable costs to young users all over the globe.

Li added that realme’s next goal is to hit a dual-100 million target, shipping an additional 100 million smartphones by 2022’s end and reaching the same purpose within the calendar year 2023.

Madhav Sheth (Vice President, realme and Chief Executive Officer, realme India & Europe) expressed his appreciation for the achievement and said that “realme always strives to be a No.1 smartphone brand with its Dare to Leap spirit. Our customers are a key factor in this success. The realme brand is currently the first smartphone manufacturer to sell over 100 million smartphones around the world. I am grateful for all realme supporters and fans. We are confident that we will continue to offer the highest quality to our customers.”
