After three months of DP Google has finally announced the Beta version of its next iteration of Android aka Android 12 today. Previously the update was limited to just developers but with this announcement, anyone can update their smartphones. The first beta update is limited to Pixel and some other manufacturers.
The new Android 12 comes with an all-new redesigned UI which every Android fan boy was waiting for it. Google has stated “a new way to think about design” which is called Material You. The new Android 12 update is basically themes made based on your wallpaper.
The new Android 12 OS recognizes the major colors, complementary, and which “just look great” from the wallpaper. Then it automatically applies those colors to the entire OS including the notification shade, the lock screen, the volume controls, new widgets, etc. This is the first of its kind we have not seen in any OS.
Android 12 OS also brings smooth and even new animations to provide the complete next-level interaction. This update also brings a 22% reduction in CPU time needed for core system services and a 15% reduction in the use of big cores by the system server. The Android 12 OS will come with redesigned notification shade, quick settings, and the power button.
The Quick Settings on the notification panel are reduced to just four on a single swipe. There are not just icons anymore as to use the complete space Google has managed to add the text beside the icons. The new Google Pay and Home Controls are now integrated into Quick Settings.
Further, Android 12 OS also brings a new Privacy Dashboard under the setting panel. So now one can simply visit the Privacy Dashboard to check the permission assigned for a particular app. Not just that the new Privacy Dashboard also shows the indicator in the top right of the status bar when your apps are accessing your mic or camera.
Now, one can just share the approximate location to select apps instead of the precise location. This means that by just mentioning the City name Weather widget will start showing the updates. Other features include accessibility features for people with impaired vision, support for scrolling screenshots, conversation widgets.
Lastly, the new Android 12 update also brings Android Private Compute Core that enables features like Live Caption, Now Playing, and Smart Reply within the device itself. Yes, the new Android Private Compute Core will no longer require a stable internet connection to display the captions anymore.
