Sony has finally unveiled its second flagship of 2020 with the new Xperia 5 II. Previously we saw Sony launching the Xperia 1 II at MWC 2020. The new Xperia 5 II is a lot affordable than the previously launched Xperia 1 II. The new Xperia 5 II arrives in a single Black colour.
The new Xperia 5 II will go on pre-orders from Sept 29 and will start shipping by Autumn 2020. The new Xperia 5 II is priced at $950 (Rs.70,000/-) in the US. Sadly, the new Xperia 5 II will not launch in India.
Design:
The Xperia 5 II comes with a traditional Sony design which we saw in the past. The new Xperia 5 II comes with premium Glass back with metal edges. The device comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on both front as well as back. It also gets dedicated camera shutter key on the right along with side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Xperia 5 II measures 8mm thick and weighs just 163g.
Specs:
The new Sony Xperia 5 II is a compact flagship with 6.1 inches FHD+ OLED HDR display with 120Hz refresh rates. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on top and comes with 21:9 aspect ratio display. The Xperia 5 II is powered by SD865 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It also gets a MicroSD card slot.
Camera:
The Xperia 5 II features triple rear cameras with 12MP main Exmor RF sensor with an aperture of f/1.7, Hybrid OIS/EIS with Carl Zeiss lens, 12MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 124-degrees FOV & 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, 3X optical zoom, OIS/EIS and LED flash. The device also features ZEISS T* coating for reduced reflection, improved contrast and image rendering. It becomes the world’s first smartphone featuring 4K video recording at 120fps.
The Xperia 5 II comes with 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Connectivity:
The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE support, 5G, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS, NaVIC, USB Type-C, Wifi-6, Bluetooth 5.1, 3.5 mm audio jack and stereo speakers. It also features IP68 rating making it dust and water-resistant. The Sony Xperia 5 II ships with 4000 mAh battery with USB-PD fast charging.
