Microsoft finally launched the much delayed foldable device with Microsoft Surface Duo in the US today. After announcing the new Microsoft Surface Duo last year at the annual event the device is officially launched. The new Microsoft Surface Duo will arrive in a single colour with Glacier White.
The new Microsoft Surface Duo will go on sale from Sept 10 in the US and currently up on pre-orders through all leading carriers. Sadly, no word on international launch and availability. The Microsoft Surface Duo comes with a whopping price tag of $1399 (Rs.1,04,700/-) in the US.
The Microsoft Surface Duo is completely made out of metal unibody that features dual display supported by a hinge on top and bottom of the device. The new Microsoft Surface Duo weighs around 250g and measures 9.9 mm thick when folded.
The new Microsoft Surface Duo sports dual 5.6 inches FHD+ AMOLED PixelSense Display with a resolution of 1800x1350p. When unfolded the device sports 8.1 inches AMOLED display with a resolution of 2700x1800p. The device is completely protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on front and back.
The new Microsoft Surface Duo comes powered by outdated SD855 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 3.0 storage. The Microsoft Surface Duo features single 11MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0, PDAF, 84-degrees FOV with LED flash. Do note that the same 11MP camera act as main and selfie sensor.
The new Microsoft Surface Duo 11MP comes with 7x Digital Zoom which is marketed as Super Zoom and supports 4K video recording @60fps and EIS support. The new Microsoft Surface Duo also comes with support for Microsoft Surface Pen.
The major selling point of the new Microsoft Surface Duo is the software experience which is running on Android 10 OS. Yes, Microsoft has heavily customised the UI with some interesting features making it unique.
The Microsoft Surface Duo comes with Dual Band Wifi, A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 5.0, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, eSIM and Single SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE support along with USB Type-C port. All this is packed by 3577 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
