After launching the new SD675 SoC earlier last year we saw many brands launching with the chipset but lack of 5G support was still there. So now Qualcomm has announced yet another mid-range chipset under the 6-series with SD690 SoC.
The new SD690 SoC is built on 8nm process and comes with Snapdragon X51 modem support for 5G networks. The new SD690 SoC is made for affordable 5G smartphones and we may see the chipset in HMD, LG, Motorola, Sharp, TCL, and Wingtech in the coming months.
The new SD690 SoC comes with Dual-mode 5G support along with Sub-6Hz band for Global users. Sadly, the chipset doesn’t feature mmWave support as it will be used on a higher version of chipsets under 7 and 8 series. The SD690 SoC is 20% faster CPU speeds and 60% faster graphics than the new SD690 SoC.
The chipset will also come with support for 192MP camera and 4K video recording @ 30fps. The SD690 SoC comes with support for 120Hz refresh rate display up to FHD+ resolution. It also gets QC 4+ support along with the all-new Wifi-6. It comes with fifth-generation AI Engine called ARCSOFT which brings one additional feature the Hexagon Tensor Accelerator (HTA) that helps real-time Snapchat filters look smooth and less stuttery.
