As per the source, the upcoming Android TV dongle aka Chromecast is codenamed as Sabrina and might launch under the Google Nest lineup. The new device will now run on Android TV OS which also gets remote control support which was missing on the predecessor.
Yes, finally the alleged Sabrina aka Chromecast successor will have dedicated Google Remote control which looks similar to Apple TV remote control in terms of design. The remote comes with Google Assistant button with a microphone and IR Blaster. It comes with general buttons like mute, home and volume up and down buttons.
Previously we even got rumours about Google plans to revamp the Android OS for TV with Android TV OS and will also get all-new UI. Now finally we have some marketing images showing the Android TV UI in full glory. The alleged Chromecast aka Sabrina will come in three colours with Black, White and Pink.
The device comes in Oval shape this time instead of circular in the past and might have sandstone like finish. Now the new Android TV UI will show a list of TV shows and movies with autoscrolling carousel in the middle which shows the recommended movies or TV shows. Further, the new Android TV UI will also show alerts from Google Nets devices such as doorbells or video cameras.
The device will come with Armlogic SoC and will have Dolby Vision support. The device might cost under $80 (Rs.6,100/-) as per various industry insider.
