Cinema quality video and image performance:
Outstanding video recording capability is the hallmark feature of the LUMIX S1H, making it an ideal professional tool for filmmaking. The S1H includes a 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor (35.6 mm x 23.8mm) that captures 6K resolution. It features Dual Native ISO that allows users to get the sharpest image with the most accurate details possible. If shot in a dimly lit environment, higher ISO will provide more detail in the highlights. In combination with the optimum signal processing by Venus Engine, the camera achieves high sensitivity and minimum noise. Panasonic is known for its Cinema cameras Varicam and their its superb picture quality has come to be known as ‘Varicam Look’, the V-Log in S1H emulates the same look giving more creative freedom to Filmmakers and bringing the Cinematic look to Wedding and travel Cinematography. It also packs a host of features for professional cinematographers shooting on a mirrorless system such as HDR (High Dynamic Range) in HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), Anamorphic 4:3 modes, a waveform monitor and a V-Log View Assist function.
High reliability and operability to support professional work
To avoid shaky shots caused during handheld video recording, the Lumix S1H combines 5-axis Body IS (Image Stabiliser) and 2-axis OIS (optical image stabilisation) that is found in the Lumix S series lenses. This helps in shooting stabilized footage for as low as 6.5-stop slower shutter speed. Moreover, the complete range of the Lumix S-series cameras employs the L-mount system, which gives the users a diverse and future-proof range of products. There is no video recording limit in the camera, permitting users to shoot for as long as their memory card or battery allows (subject to camera staying under the certified operating temperature). The high mobility of the camera is supported by the dual card slots that significantly increases the camera’s storage size limit, read/write speed and also make it very reliable when it comes to corruptibility and failure. The rugged design provides professional photographers with high reliability.
Expandability for creative freedom
Featuring incredibly wide colour gamut, the S1H can record C4K 4:2:2 10-bit 4K 10 bit up to 30p internally, 4:2:2 10-bit option has approximately 128 times the information of 4:2:0 8-bit and is capable of expressing over 1 billion colours. This massive volume of colour information is highly valuable for post-production, making it possible to artistically adjust colour to match the creative vision of the director. S1H is also compatible with Microphone Adaptor (DMW-XLR1), supporting High-Quality Audio Input and XLR Line and Mic input. To fulfil ever-increasing demand of good quality slow motion, S1H supports VFR (Variable Frame Rate) and helps users record over-cranked / under-cranked videos in C4K/4K, 60 fps, FHD 180 fps, with maximum 7.5x slower speed in 24p. In addition, HFR (High Frame Rate) video of up to Full HD 100p/120p with sound is also recordable even when using autofocus. Varieties of effects are available for producing a slow-motion video through the post-production process as well.
Panasonic has also announced the development of a firmware program for the LUMIX S1H full-frame mirrorless camera, which enables the output of maximum 5.9K/29.97p RAW video data to the Atomos Ninja V 4K HDR monitor-recorder over HDMI. The program is scheduled to be launched in early 2020. With this firmware program, the Apple ProRes RAW can be recorded on Atomos Ninja V, which is one of Panasonic’s commitments to providing innovative solutions for professional film creation.
