After tons of leaks and rumours about the next budget smartphone from Xiaomi with Redmi 8 is finally official. The new Redmi 8 will again be exclusive to Flipkart, Mi.com and later will be available in Mi Home and all leading offline retail outlets. The new Redmi 8 will arrive in Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red and Onyx Black colours.
The new Redmi 8 is priced at Rs.7999/- for the 3GB+32GB and Rs.8999 for 4GB+64GB version. For limited period Xiaomi is offering the Redmi 8 with 4GB+64GB version at Rs.7999 for first 5 million buyers. The Redmi 8 will go on sale from Oct 12.
Redmi 8 comes with a polycarbonate back with a glossy finish similar to Redmi 8A. The Redmi 8 will sport 6.2 inches HD+ Dew Drop display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. It is also splash resistant and comes with USB Type-C port along with 3.5 mm audio jack. The new Redmi 8 features rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Redmi 8 measures 9.6 mm thick and weighs 188 grams.
The new Redmi 8 is powered by the same SD439 SoC as the Redmi 8A which disappoints. It comes with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage with dedicated microSD card slot. The new Redmi 8 features Dual rear cameras with 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 and 2MP depth sensor with LED flash, Dual PD Auto Focus, 6P Lens. It comes with 8MP selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.2.
The new Redmi 8 comes with Wifi, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, GLONASS, Dual SIM with Dual 4G LTE and VoLTE, FM Radio, 3.5 mm audio jack and USB Type-C port. The Redmi 8 packs larger 5000 mAh battery with Qualcomm QC 3.0 support probably 18W fast charging. The Redmi 8 runs on Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 on top.
