Earlier we saw Apple launching the cheaper iPhone with LCD display last year with iPhone XR. We also had got few reports which claim that the iPhone XR is not living up to the expectation as it sold very less number of units than the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
Now as per reports by WSJ, Apple is deciding to ditch the LCD panel completely by this year as the company is having plans of moving to better OLED display for 2020 iPhones. So this means, that 2019 iPhone XR will be the last device to use the LCD display.
Further, this move will allow implementing more flexible handset design which indirectly hints us about the flexible iPhone. With this decision, we can expect Japan Displays will be in huge loss as it is the only supplier to provide the LCD displays to Apple.
