Acer is launching its first smartphone in India on this date, details revealed.

Acer is returning to the smartphone market with two new models set to launch in India soon. There was no concrete launch date until now, but the dedicated Amazon India landing page reveals the big event will happen on April 15 (Tuesday).

The landing page promises a “Supercomputer core in your hands” and “AI-powered starlight precision”, whatever that means. These two phones have already been revealed – unless other new Acer models have eluded detection, these are the ones.

With a 12nm MediaTek chip (an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU) and a 6.75″ IPS LCD with only 720p+ resolution, the Acer Acerone Liquid S272E4 is an excellent budget device. The phone has a 20MP camera and a 5,000mAh battery.

With a 6.52″ 720p+ IPS LCD (60Hz) and a 16MP camera, the Acer Acerone Liquid S162E4 slots even lower. While its sibling has Gorilla Glass 4, the S162E4 has Gorilla Glass 5, with a 12nm chipset that runs at a slightly higher speed (0.1GHz higher).

It turns out that Acer isn’t making new phones, but Indkal Technologies is. Indkal makes Acer-branded TVs in India, which you may have heard of or not.
