Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 as an affordable alternative to its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Thanks to a significant leak, we might already have all the key details about the company’s successor.
Digital Chat Station, a reliable source, revealed fascinating details about the upcoming chip. Qualcomm may not name it Snapdragon 8s Elite as we expect. It could be called Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 instead. It will use standard ARM cores, unlike the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which features Qualcomm’s custom Oryon cores.
Qualcomm keeps the 4nm process from last year’s model but tweaks the core layout. The Cortex-X4 prime core runs at 3.21GHz. At 3.01GHz, 3x Cortex-A720 cores run, and two Cortex-A720 cores run at 2.80GHz. At 2.02GHz, 2x A720 cores are efficiency-focused.
The Adreno 825 GPU is said to be integrated into the chipset, the same generation as the Adreno 830 found in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Due to a smaller core size, its graphical performance could be slightly lower than that of its flagship counterpart.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 features a 6-MB system-level (SLC) and an 8-MB L3 cache. This combination of changes has reportedly boosted AnTuTu’s benchmark score past 2 million.
The tipster confirmed in another post that the Snapdragon 8s Elite will share the same ISP as the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The chip is already being used in several phones. The leak indicates that four devices are on their way. Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro, Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro, and Oppo K13 Pro are on the list.
