On April 11, MediaTek will launch the Dimensity 9400+. It is a minor update to last year’s Dimensity 9400, but the real upgrade comes with the Dimensity 9500. If a new leak is accurate, the next flagship chip from MediaTek may be known.

According to a now-deleted post from tipster Digital Chat Station, the Dimensity 9500 will be based on TSMC’s N3P process and feature an all-big-core ARM CPU.

There is reportedly a Travis core, three Alto cores, four Gelas cores, and an Immortalis Drage GPU. ARM’s Travis and Alto are part of its upcoming X9 generation, which supports Scalable Matrix Extension (SME).

ARM’s next-generation A7 series core is believed to be Gelas. The Dimensity 9500 will have a 1+3+4 CPU setup. There is one Cortex-X930, 3x Cortex-X930 (lower clock), and four Cortex-A730s.

There seemed to be no change from a previous leak that hinted at a 2+6 CPU configuration with two Travis and six Gelas cores for the 9500. MediaTek’s plans have evolved since these were “early specifications” for the chip.

It is expected to launch in mid-2025, giving it an edge over Qualcomm’s next flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is expected to debut in October 2024.

According to a leak earlier today, MediaTek is also working on a second all-big-core Dimensity chip. Based on the same 3nm process from TSMC, it may be called Dimensity 9450. Currently, there are few details about it.
