Huawei has been teasing the arrival of a 16:10 phone for a while now, and today the company finally reveals the Pura X. This might be one of the strangest foldable phones we’ve ever seen.

Specs:

When folded, the HUAWEI Pura X has a pocket-friendly clamshell form factor. When you unfold the device, you’ll find a 6.3-inch 16:10 folding screen (2,120 x 1,320) that looks more like a tablet than a smartphone. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip6 has an aspect ratio of 22:9.

The company recommends this aspect ratio for reading and watching videos. As most video services aren’t designed for 16:10 screens, we’re unsure about the latter. You’ll likely encounter letterboxing/black bars more often with this device. However, Flip phones also have unusual aspect ratios that aren’t ideal for video. Split-screen multitasking might be a pretty solid experience on HUAWEI’s device.

Pura X also has a 3.5-inch screen (980 x 988) that allows you to make and receive calls, play games, and use messaging apps. We hope the cover screen functionality matches the Motorola RAZR series.

The device also has a 4,720mAh battery, 60W wired and 40W wireless charging, an IPX8 rating, and a side fingerprint scanner. Unfortunately, the company has not revealed the chipset it will use. Huawei’s phone has four cameras: a 50MP f/1.6 main camera, a 40MP ultrawide camera, an 8MP 3.5x camera, and a 1.5MP color camera. There is also a 10MP selfie shooter.

A Pura X Collector’s Edition model, which features a different back cover, is also available.

Pricing:

HUAWEI Pura X starts at 7,499 yuan (Rs.89,500/-) for the 12GB/256GB variant and goes up to 7,999 yuan (Rs.95,600/-) for the 12GB/512GB. In addition, the 16GB/512GB Collector’s Edition model costs 8,999 yuan (Rs.1,07,500/-), while the 16GB/1TB model is priced at 9,999 yuan (Rs.1,19,500/-).

We will update the article when we hear from Huawei about global availability. It’s definitely one of the weirdest phones we’ve seen in 2025.
