Apple’s new iOS 19 software update is one of the biggest updates to iPhone software in a long time, but it also unlocks a new feature for AirPods users. Apple’s wireless earbuds will include live translation capabilities, according to Bloomberg News.

According to the report, AirPods will now be able to translate in-person conversations, working together with paired iPhones running iOS 19. An AirPod user can now receive live translation of an unfamiliar language through the earbuds. After the person speaks, the other listener can hear it through the paired iPhone’s loudspeakers in their language.

Both Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds3 Pro support similar interpreter modes. There is no mention of which models of AirPods will receive the new update in the report. It supports 19 languages, and was launched in 2020.

In addition, Apple is developing a new model of AirPods Pro with cameras and Apple Intelligence, which can analyze the user’s surroundings.
