The Sony Xperia 1 VII is expected to have a significantly enhanced camera experience than the previous generation. Rumours have been circulating that this year’s model will feature the Exmor T sensor across all three rear cameras, an improvement over last year’s model, which had the Exmor T sensor only in the primary camera.

The Sony Exmor T stacked CMOS sensor is based on the transistor pixel technology, which consists of two layers. Compared to the previous sensor, the new one reduces noise, improves low-light performance, and enhances dynamic range.

This source indicates that Sony may improve the sensor technology but keep the sensor sizes and megapixels the same—52 MP (48 MP effective) for the primary camera, 12 MP for ultrawide, and 12 MP for telephoto.

Sony released the Xperia 1 flagship model in the second quarter of this year, and the Xperia 1 VII is expected to be unveiled in May of this year. We can expect more leaks and teasers about the device in the near future, which will reveal more details about it.
