After Samsung released its Galaxy S25 series, all eyes were on its next-generation foldable. According to a recent report from the Korean publication ETnews, Samsung might launch an entirely new form factor alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in addition to the annual refresh cycle.
The report cites multiple industry sources claiming Samsung’s rumoured double-folding device is being developed and produced at the same time as the Z series. If Samsung follows its usual schedule, it could unveil this new form factor in July 2025.
Samsung Display has previously showcased the ‘Flex G’ prototype, which features an inward-folding design, as the Galaxy G Fold. Samsung is reportedly opting for an inward-folding structure to prioritize durability over reliability, unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, which folds outward in an S-shape. This would require Samsung’s double-folding phone to have a separate external display.
Some specs are also rumoured in the report. The main internal display will measure 9.96 inches, while the external screen will measure 6.49 inches. There may be one compromise with the device, as it won’t include a digitizer and will not support S Pen.
Limited availability:
Samsung might announce a new foldable device, but ETnews suggests the device’s launch may be limited to specific markets. Samsung is reportedly only producing 200,000 units for the initial launch, and it might follow the same strategy as last year’s Galaxy Z Fold6 SE, which is available in South Korea and China.
Samsung’s most experimental foldable might not reach the US or Europe soon, at least not immediately. Samsung wants to gauge consumer response before committing to a more widespread launch. We would be disappointed but not entirely surprised if this is the case.
