The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 CAD renders offer our first look at the company’s plans for refreshing its existing foldable lineup. This rendering, which Onleaks and Android Headlines published, is not official Samsung imagery but was created by third parties using hardware measurements and diagrams — the type of info a phone case manufacturer would use to prepare a product for launch. Even though that may require some artistic guesswork regarding finer design elements, it still offers a reasonably accurate early look at far-off hardware.
Design:
The Fold7’s screen size and dimensions have been among our biggest concerns. Last year, after launching the Fold 6, Samsung released the very limited-availability Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition. It features a thinner build and a larger display than the initial Fold 6. Today’s renders boldly claim that the Fold7 will be even thinner, with a larger screen than the Fold 6 SE. Since the Fold6 SE debuted, we’ve heard competing theories about the Fold 7’s inspiration.
According to Android Headlines, the Fold 7 will measure only 9.5mm thick when closed (including the camera bump), and 4.5mm thick when unfolded. The device’s inner screen measures 8.2 inches, while its external panel measures 6.5 inches.
For now, that’s enough to make it the largest-screen foldable in its class. When fully expanded, the phone would measure 58.4 x 143.1 x 4.5mm, suggesting a new aspect ratio for the internal screen. However, Samsung hasn’t revealed the exact resolution it’s aiming for.
Specs:
This source confirms that Samsung’s Exynos chips have been replaced with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processors. Although most of the Fold6’s camera hardware should remain the same, the primary sensor may get a bump to 200MP.
It seems like Samsung has listened to what foldable shoppers have requested with its new, slimmer build and expansive screen.
