Xiaomi recently announced the launch of its latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, with Xiaomi Group Partner and President Lu Weibing confirming its global availability. The announcement came during a video Q&A session with fans in China. According to Weibing, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is set to be unveiled shortly after the Chinese New Year, which is on January 29, 2025. However, due to the public holiday in China extending until February 4, the unveiling will not occur during this period.

Industry insiders anticipate that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s global introduction will coincide with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, which is scheduled for late February to early March. The release in China is expected to take place just before the global launch, although specific timing details remain unclear.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is rumoured to have impressive specifications, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It’s expected to feature a 2K OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth visuals and vibrant colours. The device is also said to boast a substantial 6,000 mAh battery that supports both 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, enhancing its appeal to power users.

In terms of photography, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is rumoured to include a cutting-edge camera system. This includes a 1-inch type Sony Lytia LYT-900 main camera sensor, a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 ultrawide lens, a 50 MP close-range telephoto lens, and a groundbreaking 200 MP periscope telephoto lens that reportedly offers 100x hybrid AI zoom, setting a new benchmark for mobile photography.

With these advanced features, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is poised to be a major contender in the global smartphone market, building on the success of its predecessor and offering technology enthusiasts a highly anticipated upgrade.
