Redmi kicked off this month by introducing the Turbo 4 and plans to release the Turbo 4 Pro later in the year. Initially, there were whispers that the Pro model might sport a 7,500 mAh battery, though subsequent rumours scaled this back to just over 7,000 mAh.
Recent buzz reaffirms the original claim, suggesting that prototype tests have “confirmed” a 7,500 mAh battery. However, it’s important to remember that this doesn’t constitute an official confirmation.
In a related development, Redmi is reportedly experimenting with an 8,000 mAh battery for future models, likely within the K90 series.
Chinese smartphone manufacturers appear to be shifting away from focusing solely on increasing charging speeds and instead incorporating larger batteries into their handsets, thanks to advancements in Silicon-Carbon technology, which enhances battery density without increasing size.
It’s hoped that once the competition for bigger batteries plateaus, efforts will return towards enhancing charging speeds. Previously, charging a phone fully took about 20 minutes, but nowadays, 35-40 minutes is the norm. Interestingly, Samsung seems to be out of the loop on these developments.
