Samsung is poised to make significant strides with its upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is expected to be the first in its line to incorporate an in-house Exynos chipset. This shift suggests a promising future for the Galaxy Z Flip series, with the potential Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE rumoured to follow suit.

Exynos 2500 Chipset Details

The heart of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be the Exynos 2500 chipset, which presents a powerful configuration optimized for high performance and energy efficiency. The CPU setup includes a primary Cortex-X925 core that can reach speeds up to 3.3 GHz. It’s supported by two Cortex-A725 cores at up to 2.75 GHz and an additional five Cortex-A725 cores at up to 2.36 GHz. Two Cortex-A520 cores, clocked at up to 1.8 GHz, round out the CPU’s architecture. This ten-core setup is complemented by a substantial 16MB of L3 cache.

Memory and Storage Capabilities

Samsung’s Exynos 2500 supports 16-bit quad-channel LPDDR5X memory, facilitating data throughput rates of around 9.6 Gbps. This feature ensures rapid data processing and enhances multitasking capabilities. The chipset also supports the latest UFS 4.X storage standards, which promise faster data access and improved performance for applications and system operations.

Graphics and AI Performance

The onboard Samsung Xclipse 950 GPU, based on AMD’s RDNA3.5 architecture and clocked at 1.3 GHz, includes eight workgroup processors. This setup is designed to handle demanding graphics applications effortlessly, making it ideal for gaming and high-resolution video playback. Additionally, the chipset features a potent neural processing unit (NPU) capable of achieving 56 TOPs, which boosts the device’s efficiency in AI-driven tasks and applications.

Advanced Imaging and Video Capabilities

The chipset comes with an integrated image signal processor (ISP) that supports up to 320MP camera resolutions. This high capacity allows for extremely high-resolution photography. The chipset also supports 8K video recording at 30fps and hardware-accelerated 8K video decoding at 60fps.

Anticipated Release

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the potential Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE are expected to debut around July 2025.
