After much anticipation, the Google Pixel 9a is finally making its way to the market, and it’s coming earlier than usual. Unlike previous years when Google typically launched the Pixel A-series during Google I/O in May, this year’s release is moving up to mid-March. This shift mirrors last year’s change for the Pixel 9 series, which saw an August launch instead of the usual October timeframe.

Pre-Order and Shipping Dates for the Google Pixel 9a

According to reliable sources, pre-orders for the Pixel 9a will begin on March 19, giving early adopters the chance to secure their device ahead of time. Shipments are expected to start on March 26, with the Pixel 9a also becoming available in stores on that same date.

Pricing Information for the Pixel 9a

In terms of pricing, the Google Pixel 9a will be priced at $499 for the 128GB version in the US, while the 256GB model will retail at $599. For those opting for Verizon’s mmWave model, there will be an additional charge of $50. For Canadian customers, the Pixel 9a will cost $679 for the 128GB variant and $809 for the 256GB version.

Design and Build

One of the most notable design changes for the Pixel 9a this year is its camera bar—or rather, the absence of it. Instead, Google has opted for a flush back, which could be a result of the larger 5,100mAh battery that is expected to power the device. This new battery size is the largest ever in a Pixel phone, surpassing the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s 5,060mAh battery.

The Pixel 9a will be slightly wider and taller than the Pixel 8a, though it will retain the same 8.9mm thickness. Despite this increase in size, the phone will be lighter, weighing just 185.9g—even with the larger battery.

Display and Features

While the Pixel 9a’s battery is much bigger, Google is keeping the 6.28-inch display from the previous model, making the Pixel 9a a compact device despite its enhanced battery. The screen size remains perfect for those who want a smaller phone that still delivers strong performance.

Color Options

The Google Pixel 9a will be available in four stunning colors: Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony—giving users a variety of options to match their style.
