Apple is reportedly gearing up to refresh its iPhone SE lineup, introducing a new model that could feature some notable upgrades from its predecessors.

According to renowned tech leaker Evan Blass, the upcoming iPhone, possibly named iPhone 16E, is expected to sport a Dynamic Island interface, a feature first introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro. This would mark a shift from the traditional notch design, indicating a significant design overhaul for the iPhone SE series. The device is also rumoured to be equipped with Apple’s latest A18 chipset, enhancing its performance capabilities.

On the tablet front, Apple seems poised to update its iPad Air range. Speculation, fueled by insights from Blass, suggests the introduction of two new iPad Air models, maintaining the existing 11″ and 13″ screen sizes. These next-generation tablets are anticipated to incorporate the M3 chip, an upgrade over the current M2 processors used in the latest models. Although it’s still the M4 series that remains Apple’s most advanced chipset, featured in the latest iPad Pros, the M3 would still represent a significant improvement for the iPad Air line.

Both the new iPhone SE and the updated iPad Air models reflect Apple’s strategy of reutilizing successful designs while incorporating newer technology to keep the devices current. As with previous releases, it remains to be seen if there will be additional enhancements or features, but updates to the core components like the chipset and display interface suggest a commitment to keeping the devices competitive and appealing to consumers. Further details are expected as Apple finalizes its plans for these launches.
