Acer has introduced new additions to its gaming handheld collection, the Nitro Blaze 11 and Nitro Blaze 8, which feature larger displays compared to the previous Acer Nitro Blaze 7 model. While retaining the Ryzen 7 8840HS processor of their predecessor, these new models offer updated configurations.

The Acer Nitro Blaze 8 and Nitro Blaze 11 enhance gaming experiences with their high performance, driven by AMD Ryzen 8040 Series processors that boast up to 39 total AI TOPS, alongside 16 GB of LPDDR5x memory and up to 2 TB of storage capacity. These handheld devices offer stunning visuals on WQXGA touch displays—8.8 inches for the Blaze 8 and 10.95 inches for the Blaze 11—featuring refresh rates of up to 144 Hz. They are equipped with AMD Radeon 780M Graphics, Radeon Super Resolution, and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution technology for sharp and refined imagery.

The devices are optimized with the Acer Game Space app, allowing users to easily access popular gaming platforms and apps on these Windows 11-powered handhelds. The design of the Nitro Mobile Gaming Controller is portable and foldable, ideal for gaming on the move with adjustable grips that fit various device sizes and support 18W fast charging.

Display

The Nitro Blaze 11 stands out as Acer’s largest gaming handheld to date and is likely one of the largest Windows OS-based handhelds currently available. It features an 11-inch display that provides a 2560 x 1600 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The display also reaches up to 500 nits of brightness and covers 98% of the DCI-P3 colour spectrum, ensuring vibrant and dynamic visuals.

The Nitro Blaze 8 features an 8.8-inch display with a crisp 2560 x 1600 resolution and a faster refresh rate of 144 Hz. While it shares most of the same features as its larger sibling, the Nitro Blaze 11, the key differences lie in its more compact screen size, lighter weight, and non-detachable controller for an integrated gaming experience.

In contrast, the Nitro Blaze 11 offers detachable controllers, giving players the flexibility to place the screen on a desk for a more versatile gaming setup. This added convenience makes the Blaze 11 a standout choice for gamers seeking both portability and adaptability.

Processor & connectivity:

The Nitro Blaze 8 and Nitro Blaze 11 handhelds are powered by the Ryzen 7 8840HS processor, built on Zen 4 architecture, paired with Radeon 780M graphics to deliver a solid gaming experience. However, the higher display resolution compared to the Nitro Blaze 7 can lead to slightly reduced performance. Both devices are equipped with 16 GB LPDDR5X SDRAM clocked at 7500 MT/s and up to 2 TB of M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage, ensuring fast and efficient operations.

In terms of controls, these new models introduce additional macro buttons compared to the Blaze 7, providing more customization for gamers. They also feature upgraded 2x 2W speakers for improved audio output. Battery capacity has been increased from 50W to 55W, extending gaming sessions. Connectivity has seen enhancements as well, with the addition of extra USB ports: a USB 3.2 Type-C port and a USB 3.2 Type-A port.

Size and Weight:

  • Nitro Blaze 8: Offers a larger footprint than its predecessor, the Blaze 7, with dimensions of 30.5 x 13.4 x 2.2 cm and a weight of 720 g, up from 670 g.
  • Nitro Blaze 11: The largest and heaviest in the series, it measures 36.4 x 17.1 x 1.59 cm and weighs 1050 g, making it more suited for users seeking a bigger display and detachable controllers.

Both models are designed to cater to diverse gaming needs, balancing performance, portability, and functionality.
