OnePlus is reportedly working on a compact smartphone. The device has consistently surfaced new information. Digital Chat Station posted an update on this mysterious OnePlus phone on Weibo today.
Specs:
DCS reports that the upcoming OnePlus compact phone will feature a 6.3-inch custom-made flat display with 1.5K resolution. This camera design is referred to as a horizontal small matrix, which is quite minimalistic and somewhat reminiscent of Google’s Pixel series cameras. There will be no periscope lens on the device, and the primary camera is expected to be a 50-megapixel IMX906 sensor.
It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Testing is currently underway for the engineering prototype model, which is equipped with a short-focus fingerprint sensor, and internal discussions are ongoing regarding the inclusion of a single-point ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
Despite the device’s intended online sales, the tipster also notes that short-focus fingerprint sensors are not as uncomfortable on a small-screen phone. The compact phone may compete with similar Xiaomi devices, but this is not confirmed.
OnePlus Ace 5 Mini might be the name:
DCS predicts that OnePlus’ compact phone will debut in China in the second quarter of 2025. OnePlus Ace 5 Mini could potentially be marketed under the Ace series moniker.
In China, OnePlus will launch the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro later this month. These devices are powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets, respectively.
