Apple launched the refreshed iPad Pro this past spring, featuring the new M4 processor. The new M5 chipset will be featured in next year’s Apple tablet. According to a new report, we won’t see the next SoC until 2025.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will not begin production of the iPad Pro M5 until the second half of 2025. In other words, the new iPad won’t arrive before the end of 2025, possibly in early 2026, though Apple wants it to undergo annual updates, like the MacBook or iPhone.
Apple’s new iPad Pro with the M5 processor is expected to enter mass production in 2H25, which is expected to boost the company’s business momentum.” Apple launched the iPad Pro M4 in April of this year, so launching it later in 2025 would be a significant delay.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman made similar claims when Apple released the new M4-powered iMac, Mac Mini, and MacBook Pro in October.
Gurman predicted that the M5 would debut on the iPad Pro in 2025. According to him, we won’t see a M5 iPad Pro until early 2026, meaning we won’t get one until late 2025.
There isn’t much information available about the M5 chip. Apple’s rumored 2nm M5 system-on-chip would be more powerful and have more transistors than the 3nm M4 system-on-chip.
