As the tech world turns its gaze toward 2025, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series emerges as a focal point for early expectations, with rumours suggesting a reveal as soon as January 5 or possibly on January 22 during a Samsung Unpacked event.

Pricing and Promotions:

Contrary to some expectations, the Galaxy S25 Ultra isn’t set to see a price hike. Instead, Samsung reportedly plans to maintain pricing similar to the Galaxy S24 series. There’s also talk of continuing their tradition of offering a “free storage upgrade” during the pre-order phase, although it’s unclear if the vanilla S25 will upgrade to a 256GB base storage from 128GB.

Hardware Enhancements:

  • RAM: There’s an upgrade in RAM across the board, with the Galaxy S25 models expected to feature 12GB of RAM, a step up from the 8GB in previous models.
  • Processor: The entire S25 lineup will reportedly utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor globally, due to production issues with the Exynos 2500. This new chip will bring enhanced processing capabilities, particularly in the ISP (Image Signal Processor), which will be the primary camera upgrade for the S25 and S25+.

Camera and Design:

  • Camera: The S25 Ultra might get a significant resolution boost with its ultra-wide camera, moving from 12MP to a 50MP sensor. However, other camera specifications remain largely unchanged, with aesthetic changes possibly limited to the styling of the camera lenses.
  • Display: The display technology will continue to impress with the same size and resolution but with the promise of thinner bezels on the Ultra model.

Battery and Charging:

  • Battery Life: Battery capacities are expected to stay consistent with the previous models, but improvements in efficiency from the Elite chipset might lead to better battery life.
  • Charging: Charging speeds remain at 45W for the Plus and Ultra, and 25W for the standard model.

Software and AI:

Samsung is heavily focusing on AI for the S25 series, likely integrating features that could have contributed to delays in the development of One UI 7. This emphasis on AI might bring new functionalities or enhancements to user interaction, photography, or productivity.
While the Galaxy S25 series might not revolutionize the smartphone landscape with drastic changes, the incremental upgrades suggest a refinement of Samsung’s current offerings, focusing on performance, efficiency, and software innovation. As always, we’ll continue to monitor for any unexpected features or improvements that might have eluded early leaks.
