It’s been a while, but it looks like Apple is planning something unprecedented: an M4 chip update for every Mac in its current lineup, something that hasn’t happened in over ten years if the rumours are to be believed. Just last week, Apple unveiled the first Macs featuring the M4 chip: the MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini.

These models come with significant improvements like enhanced Thunderbolt port capabilities, options for nano-texture displays, and advanced Center Stage camera enhancements. This rollout has covered most of Apple’s Mac range, with only the MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro yet to receive the M4 treatment.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that the MacBook Air is slated for an M4 upgrade in the spring, with the Mac Studio and Mac Pro expected to follow by mid-2025. If these predictions pan out, we’ll see the entire Mac lineup updated to the M4 chip.

If the rumours pan out, it’s looking like the M4 chip will mark a major update cycle for Apple, with every Mac model getting a refresh after more than ten years. The MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro are definitely on the list. Fingers crossed that Apple sticks to the plan, and we’ll all be in for a treat.
