As expected, Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone series, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, will be more expensive than its previous models.
According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, “Component prices have increased a lot this year, and we’ve invested heavily in R&D.”. As a result, the Xiaomi 15 should be more expensive.
It’s not entirely surprising that prices have increased. It was hinted by Jun last year that the Xiaomi 14 would be the last flagship to start at 3,999 yuan (about $562).
Lu Weibing, Xiaomi’s president, echoed these remarks, saying that the new flagship processor brings both improved performance and higher costs. The price increase was also attributed to rising memory prices.
Although Lu did not specify a price point, he compared the Vivo X200 to the new Dimensity 9400 chip. This phone’s price has increased by “more than 300 yuan,” he mentioned, asking, “How much of an increase do you think is reasonable for the Xiaomi 15?”
The Xiaomi 15 series may also see a similar price increase, possibly pushing the starting price to 4,299 yuan (Rs.51,000/-).
