Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite has finally arrived and is being hailed as a leap forward over the previous Snapdragon 8 generation. Samsung Mobile president TM Roh was invited to the stage shortly after the announcement to hint that future Galaxy models (the Samsung Galaxy S25 series?) would come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
Qualcomm also listed Samsung among the leading OEMs launching phones with Snapdragon 8 Elite in ‘coming weeks’, although the Galaxy S25 series is expected to arrive around early 2025.
Samsung’s executive, without mentioning the Galaxy S25 series, said Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite would improve Galaxy AI. Roh said Qualcomm’s expertise in intelligent computing will be incorporated into future Galaxy AI experiences, possibly hinting at the Galaxy S25. Since the Galaxy S25 series is the only flagship offering from Samsung, this makes sense.
According to the Qualcomm press release link, Samsung is also listed among other OEMs with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets, including Realme, Xiaomi, OPPO, and others. According to Samsung’s executive, Qualcomm’s new mobile platform at its core will deliver “more initiative and a unified ecosystem.”
Despite these statements and the mention of Samsung, it’s unclear whether all models in the Galaxy S25 lineup will be equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset or if it will be limited to only the Galaxy S25 Ultra, like this year’s S24 Ultra.
