The Redmi brand may be working on a compact sub-flagship smartphone, according to a report earlier this week. Even though the phone is smaller, it will feature a 6.3-inch display and a large 6000mAh battery. If true, a new leak has revealed information about the phone’s processor.
Redmi’s mini flagship may be powered by its Dimensity 9400 chip, as hinted by the hashtag #redmik80 in a Weibo post by tipster Smart Pikachu. Additionally, the tipster claims that a variant of the K80 series will feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite (Extreme Edition or Gen 4) chip.
Even if these details are not accurate, Redmi’s choice to use both Qualcomm and MediaTek flagship SoCs in the same smartphone series would be an interesting one. The rest of the details about this compact phone from Redmi are lacking. The limited information suggests that development is in its early stages.
There will be at least two variants of the Redmi K80 series, the K80 and K80 Pro, scheduled to arrive next month. The K80 Pro is rumoured to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the K80 could be fitted with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
